The Spanish schools all seem to cater to the "never spoken a word of Spanish in my life" crowd. Are there any schools that particularly have a reputation for working well with Intermediate speakers? I have two years of studying Spanish at a University and two months of living in Nicaragua with a homestay family behind me. I am willing to spend one of my last few weeks in Nica studying at a language school, but I am a bit leery of giving any more of my time or money to another school after several negative experiences. Teachers typically won't adjust their curriculum to my level or just want to chat--without correcting my mistakes or teaching any grammar.

An interesting problem - congrats! I think the best approach would be to strike a deal with one of the teachers for tutoring. If you do it quietly, you could even get them to work with you outside of the classroom, and avoid the overhead of the school itself.
Personally I would set up camp somewhere, visit the schools as a pretext of meeting the teachers, find one that matches your style, and strike a deal.

YES -- there are several schools with experience catering to intermediate and advanced students. Start with Vapues Tours in Leon, then check

in Granada and also Mariposa, south of Managua. Let us know how it works out.
