Awesome find, Chris! Thanks for posting this. Great tool for finding surf breaks, volcanoes, and old roads, though I wish you could zoom more on the maps.

I do too, but the purpose of the web page is to provide a catalog of the maps.  Moon Handbooks provides a decent list of maps worth obtaining for simple or seriously-off road travel, and the INETER maps are the best.

Interestingly, they were all produced by the Soviets during the Sandinista years.  I had a set of about 8-10 of these maps back in '00 and the topography had been surveyed back to the early 1980s according to the inscriptions on the maps.  Topography doesn't change much, of course, so they're still a great resource for travelers.  Take along a compass and some common sense and have fun!
