There is a beautiful web site on a Spanish school at Laguna de Apoyo called Proyecto Ecologico. I would really like to enroll if it is actually in operation. Oddly, the web site gives no telephone number or mailing address - just an e-mail address from which my inquiry was bounced back. Does anyone know if this school is functioning, if it is a good one, and how to contact them if so?

I've spoken with several happy customers who attended class there and I've visited  the site several times, which is indeed as gorgeous as it sounds, on the lip of the Laguna. Try tel. 505/868-0841, 882-3992, eco-nic@guegue.com.ni, www.guegue.com.ni/eco-nic and let us know if you get through. It's been over a year since I was last there, so it'd be great to get a current report on Proyecto Ecologico.

I studied Spanish there a few years ago -- I still think about the howler monkey sounds while sipping my coffee on the deck, looking out over the blue, blue water. Sometimes we felt kind of isolated, but it was usually pretty easy to get to Granada, as long as we weren't in a rush.

OK. I tried again and did get a response this time. As of New Years' Eve I am enrolled - not for my first choice of dates, but for acceptable ones. I also plan to book a week with a Spanish school in Leon with homestay and I have a contact for that.
Now I am looking for a school in Masaya. I just want Spanish lessons there, no homestay because I already have a place to stay. Can anyone recommend a school there?

None in Masaya that I'm aware of -- so please let us know what you find. Feel free to post a report about your experience at each school, if you like.
