Hi all

Now I've booked all our hotels I just wondered if you could help me with a few timings of between places so I can work out what time we need to be picked up etc.  So I wanted to know:

1. How long from Managua to Granada (and would you recommend a bus or private transfer?)
2. How long from Granada to San Jorge
4. How long does the ferry take to cross to Ometepe - one thing I read said 30 mins another said 1 hour!
5. Coming back how long from San Jorge to Pelican Eyes
6. How long from Pelican Eyes to Morgans Rock
7. How long from Morgans Rock back to Managua!

I am just comparing prices, I have prices from Paxeos, Oro Travel and also directly from the hotels/lodges.  But I am also going to check out some of the people recommended on here.  Only problem is we don't speak Spanish so we would like to find English speaking drivers if possible.

Thanks everyone.

I can help with a few here:
1. How long from Managua to Granada (and would you recommend a bus or private transfer?)
45 minutes via private transfer.  Not sure about bus.  I can recommend Paxeos private transfer service.  If you are arriving at night, would definitely stick to private transfer.  Paxeos probably won't have an English speaking driver, but they will have a sign with your name on it at the airport.  You can book by email using English.

2. How long from Granada to San Jorge
90 minutes to 2 hours by transfer service.  Tierra Tour service in Granada offers a shared shuttle that's a pretty good bargain.  They have a location in Granada just down from the central park... in the direction of the lake.  You Moon book will show it on the map.  They speak english at their office location.  I think it was 15 bucks.  The bus is way cheaper, but the shuttle is worth it.  By bus you make a many stops, and have to transfer in Rivas.  If you're trying to catch the 1030am ferry, take the shuttle.

4. How long does the ferry take to cross to Ometepe - one thing I read said 30 mins another said 1 hour!
1 hour.

Don't know about the rest... hope others can help.
By the way... what happened to number 3!   Cheesy

Thanks Quentin!  I'm not sure what happened to no 3 I must have decided I knew the answer to that one or something and forgot to change the others!!  Cheesy

We are aiming for the 10.30am ferry so will have a look at Tierra Tours, as we have arranged a pick up the other end so don't want to miss the ferry!

I now have the answer to number 6, so if anyone can answer 5 and 7 I would appreciate it!  Also one more thing ... Morgans Rock's price to take us back to Managua was $110 and Paxeos and Oro were even more expensive, so I was thinking of getting them to drop us back to SJDS and trying to get a shuttle or bus from there will that be easy enough??

Thanks guys and gals!

When I was in SJDS last month I took the public bus from there to Granada, with an easy transfer in Rivas along the way.  Total time was about 3 hours, and cost was less than 3 bucks.  You can catch the bus in SJDS just to the west of Jerry's Pizza... and I also recommend the pizza at Jerry's. I didn't continue to Managua, but the drop off in Granada was at a small station and I imagine it would be easy enough to continue on.  Or you could catch a cab the rest of the way for about $30.

It is a coincidence. I, together with my whole family is planning to take a summer vacation in that place too. Could you please inform us about what would we expect upon arriving there?
