How is Matagalpa weather in the Fall?
«

I will be staying in Matagalpa or Esteli September thru November. I know this is the rainy season and I'm wondering how much rain to expect? Will it be nonstop rain? Will it rain everyday for an hour or so? Or will it just be a little wetter as opposed to the dry season when it rains very little?
Thanks

The weather changes from year to year, obviously, so it's hard to predict perfectly. The rain is never non-stop, but occasionally it's more than just "a couple of hours in the afternoon" as well. On a bad day it will rain for the entire day, but you might just as easily have a stretch of cloudy days with no rain at all. (By contrast, during the dry season there is no rain on any day). So, you'll have to stay flexible.
You'll want to be prepared by keeping your cameras etc. in plastic bags, particularly if you are backpacking, and carry an umbrella and/or raincoat plus a hat with a brim that keeps the rain off your face.
I wouldn't let it put you off of your trip, though. I find the rainy season more fun than the dry season, and everything is lush and green, so it's a very pretty time to visit. Good luck!
