Malecón de Masaya

This January 1st I took my girlfriend to this place. It's just a wonderful spot for a couple and the view from the lagoon is just beautiful, but it's even better at sunset.

You have to be there to feel it.

actually yes, there's garbage scattered all over the park. but i think that was probably because of the celebrations.

Masaya is probably the filthiest city in Nicaragua. The view from the malecon is breathtaking, but the stench of garbage is overpowering. I was there in November 2008, and left after two days because I couldn't stand the garbage.

We didn't get to the malecon when we were there. The parts of Masaya around the central park didn't have significant garbage issues, nor any bad smells.
