Driving from Honduras to Nicaragua
«
on:

Some friends are planning to drive a 1992 full size Dodge Ram into Nicaragua from Honduras and have just read that Nicaragua does not allow the entry of vehicles 10 years old or older. Does anyone know if that applies to tourists passing through or is just for importation of vehicles to stay in Nicaragua? They have made it from the States to El Salvador so far without a problem.
Thanks.

My understanding is that rule applies only to importation of vehicles. If you're just passing through (i.e., have the full intention of taking the car with you when you go), I suspect you will not have major trouble.
PS - what kind of gas mileage are they getting in that thing???!!!

Good question on the gas mileage!
I'll see what they say when they get here. . .
