Moon talks in general about clothing and packing, but are there any specific recommendations for women?  I'll be on Ometepe for most of my trip.

Hi kfranks,
Not sure whether or not you're referring to cultural appropriateness in terms of clothing. If so, here are my two cents. Although you will see a number of Nicaraguan women, young and old, wearing what we might consider super tight or revealing clothing, just keep in mind that you are a foreigner. I personally feel that short shorts, flip flops, and tiny tank tops comes across as disrespectful in a country where they do take a lot of pride in dressing nice. In Granada, however, I think the people are used to so seeing more skin as it is the city that attracts the most tourists. In other parts of the country I wouldn't think twice about dressing more modestly - light-weight pants/capris, long skirts, covered shoulders. This is, of course, my personal opinion, but it comes with the experience of a significant amount of time spent in the country. If you're referring to climate appropriateness, see short clothing list above. I would not dress any differently on Ometepe than I would in any other part of the country (although I'd have long sleeves and maybe a fleece in Miraflor in January!). Have a super time!  –Jessica
