Food Budget

I'm working on a ten day trip with stops in Granada, Ometepe and San Juan del Sur. For lunch and dinner, is $20 per person per day a reasonable guess? We are budget travelers and try to stick to local eateries.

Hola Gatita Loca,
I would say that it is extremely easy to eat for less than $20/day for budget travelers. Jessica

Hola,
It is very possible. I just led a team of volunteers to Nica this past May and my budget was 10$ per person per day. We stayed at Finca Magdalena on Ometepe and you can eat decent meals for 3$ or less a meal. I also bought bread, veggies, snacks, juice etc. for a bagged lunch on the days that we were traveling.
Hope that helps.

Oh and at San Juan del Sur we ate really well and cheap at "Big Wave Daves" everyday. The staff are friendly and they accept American dollars or cords. We also stayed at Hostel Esperanza which is a GREAT hostel. Its right across from the pacific and close to everything.
