Has anyone does this? Looking to see what a typical day looks like... Also, (and I hope this doesn't sound too naive) wondering if I should plan to bring things to give to the school/kids...

Giving gifts is a tricky subject -- you don't want kids to expect gringos to play santa claus, creates a weird dependency vibe. I would recommend bringing school supplies and giving them directly to the teacher -- or giving medical supplies to the clinic, instead of passing out toys and pencils to every kid you see.
