Managua to San Jorge late at night?

We get into Managua at 8:37 on Dec 23 and would like to get to San Jorge that night in order to go to Ometepe the next morning. Any advice on how we do this and a hostel in San Jorge? We are travelling in a group of 5.

Have a look at Moon Handbook Nicaragua. We provide listings for lodging in San Jorge and in nearby Rivas, where you'll have more choice. Furthermore we specifically and strongly recommend you not travel long distances late at night. It is extraordinarily unsafe. You will probably wind up spending the night in Managua and leaving early the next morning.

Other good option is to go to Granada and spend the night there.
